Happy 2nd Birthday to Us!

Two years ago, we decided to create a neutral, unbiased and un-intimidating medium were we could share ideas, methods, and techniques of this great profession. We truly believe that firefighting is an art, and we want to protect the art for generations to come. The avenue to a safer fire service is by being pro-active rather than re-active in both our training and our tactics. We want to bring back the aggressive yet safe attitude to the fire service, in order to continue to protect each other on the fire ground. This can only be accomplished through educating each other and sharing ideas, tips and tricks.

We can honestly say this site has been much more of a success then we could have ever possibly imagined. We started this website with the intentions of sharing some information on the local level. Thanks to each of you, it quickly became so much more than that. We have gotten emails, comments, and material from people all over the world! The thought never crossed our minds that this is what would have become of the site after two years. The overwhelming success of this site would not be possible without each and every one of you. No amount of thanks could possibly be enough. It is because of you, our loyal readers, that this site is what it is!

Here are some of the statistics from first two years:
We have had 148 posts, with 1839 comments.
We have had over 600,000 visits to the site, with an average of over 2,000 per day.
We have had over 10,000,000 “hits.”
We are accessed regularly in more than 30 different countries.

We have some big things in the works for the future. We are extremely excited about them and will be unveiling some new things very soon. Thanks again for an amazing two years! Stay safe, and train hard!

Happy 2nd Birthday! This site is one of my most valued training aids, and helps firefighters regardless of experience or riding position. I’m looking forward to whatever new things you have in store for us.

I’d like to send a BIG thank you to you guys for sharing this site with the rest of us. I know the guys on my shift visit each day and many of the topics on the site are discussed and shared though out our department. The idea of using the Press-n-Seal for covering face pieces has become our in house method of practicing making connections with our RIT PACK and using the varios features of our SCBA. Such a simple and cost effective tool that we may have never come across without your site. THANKS A MILLION

Thank you to the originators, those who have sent in material and of course those who comment on the articles.

I have attended tha National Fire Academy a few times, but what is always consistant is that I learn more from my class mates and those who are attending other classes. This web page is doing that.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK TO ALL….

Now, I agree, T-SHIRTS… Stickers… coins, lets get that going. 🙂

    Stay safe all.

Happy second B-day. Can’t believe it’s been that long. I still remember the days of Jimm bugging us at the station to check out the site during the first few weeks/months. Keep on keepin’ on.

  24. lafd says:

now all you guys need to do is charge a fee to get access to this great information…kinda how the NFPA charges big$$ to get their information.

  25. Jimm says:

We are humbled by the suggestion that you feel our site and information are worthy of charging a fee…

When we started this site we had a few things in mind that we always (and never) wanted to do. We never wanted to advertise on the site, and we never wanted to charge for the information. It tough to use the word never, but those two principles have always meant a lot to us. It’s been two years, and so far so good.

It may sound foolish, because trust us, we could probably make a boatload of cash by going back on those two things, but that’s not or motivation. So far this site has cost us money; we have not earned a dime from it. Money was never our focus, sharing information and simply “talking fire” is, and always has been, our main focus. You can’t put a price on that.

The best way to “repay” us for our efforts would be to share the site with as many people as possible, and continue to send in, and contribute the great information. The more readers and the more information sharing the better!

We do have some plans on producing some shirts, stickers, and other related items in the very near future. Not we are planning on making boatloads of cash (although that would be nice) the idea is to offset our costs, and be able to justify spending more time on the site in order to make it even better.

Thank you for your continued support, we are having just as much fun with the site as each of you. Stay Safe!

  26. Dave says:

enogh of all the chit chat regarding building size up, entry techniques and so on…..let’s get to the real important stuff….like when are we gonna start seeing those vententersearch T shirts available for sale????
Sooner or later I’m gonna have to spend my weekly allowance on something else.

    Dave,
Good question! Maybe we should ask Jeff. I haven’t read a response or reply from the man in along time. What happened to Jeff or the other contributors?

Nevertheless, excellent site! I just hope that the you guys do lose focus amongst brothers.
